The 30-Day Local Knowledge Journal
The 30-Day Local Knowledge Journal is an invitation to begin a strategic journey to discover your community’s hidden assets. It is founded on the powerful principle that local knowledge is the most valuable resource for building resilient, vibrant, and sustainable communities.
This journey is critical because the world is transitioning from a passive ‘information society,’ drowning in data, to an active ‘knowledge society,’ where applying contextual wisdom is paramount. This locally-attuned knowledge has proven to be one of the most effective tools for advancing climate resilience and alleviating poverty.
Over 30 days, you are guided through a process of inquiry designed to reveal the skills, assets, and stories that form your community’s true wealth. The journal is a framework for engaging in “horizontal dialogue” and turning you into a “critical coinvestigator,” deliberately avoiding the top-down, paternalistic approach that can unintentionally reinforce dependence.
Beginning with the foundational skill of deep listening (Week 1), the journal guides you through mapping core areas like community assets (Week 2), the local economy (Week 3), and the social fabric (Week 4).
The goal is to move from inquiry to impact, based on the powerful, uniting premise: “we don’t need permission to begin”. With the knowledge and relationships you build, you have enough to start weaving a more resilient, just, and vibrant future right where you are.
But how do find the hidden gems in your community?
The journal is free for a limited time, but please help support my work with a gift of any amount!
